Hexia Ancient Town

   
   Hexia Ancient Town boasts a history of over 2,500 years. Located in ancient Mokou, where ancient Hangou Canal
ran into Huai River, in the northwest corner of Huaian District, Huaian City, Jiangsu Province, it is one of the areas
under priority protection in the famous historical and cultural city of Huaian. Liang Hongyu the heroine, Wu Cheng’en
the great writer and other famous historical figures were born here. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Hexia
Ancient Town nurtured 67 palace graduates, 123 candidates for the imperial examination and 12 members of the
Imperial Academy, thus was called "Home of Palace Graduates", having great cultural deposits. Hexia Ancient Town
was once an important commercial port in the history of Huaian.
